The Papyrus of Ani, Chapter 125

Copyright 1997 by Neil Parker.

Text:

[This section is the normal rubric to Chapter 125, but the scribe has accidentally inserted it here out of sequence.]

As for the Osiris Ani, true of voice, he is clothed with cloth, and shod with white sandals, and annointed with the finest of myrrh. Young cattle are offered to him, and incense, and geese, and flowers, and beer, and herbs.

Indeed, you will make a likeness of offerings in writing on purified ground with purified red ochre, and covered over in a field upon which no pig has trod. If this book is made on it, he will flourish, and his children's children, and Ra will flourish, and will not be broken. He will fill the heart of the king and his nobles. He will be given bread and great vessels of drink, and flesh on the altar of the great god. He will not be separated from any door of the West. He will be conveyed with the kings of the south and the north. He will be as a follower of Osiris at the side of Wen-Nefer, regularly and continually for ever.
